Throwback Times Nigeria present this impressive studio project by foremost oldest music group originating from Mbaise in today's Imo State.
This music group formed in early 1970s are very talented dishing out many thought provoking songs. This studio Project was debuted 1972.
After the war, driven by hunger and desperation, many women and girls were taken as spoils of war. This is the lamentation expressed in the saying: “Nwanyi mụ na ya nọ n’ụlọ a tara ahụhụ, ogu ebe na ya esoro Ndi Oma” — an ironic way of referring to the perpetrators as “Ndi Oma” (literally “good people”) so as not to provoke anyone.
“Ndi Oma” became a code name for the Hausa/Nigerian army. The song referencing this name speaks of the girls kidnapped from the eastern region and never heard from again. It calls on the Ndi Oma to account for these missing girls. In some cases, Hausa officers later returned years afterward with the women they had taken, now their wives, to pay bride price and inform the families that their daughters were still alive.
Immediately after the Biafran War, Nigerian soldiers camped in virtually every market square across Igbo land. They continued a program of mass atrocities—forcefully taking women, killing Igbo men, and seizing their wives, daughters, and mothers. These horrors went on for a long time, prompting the question: where was the United Nations Peace Corps?
