Background
A finest highlife musician rose from beautiful land of Ndokwa land in Delta State, Nigeria. Although, there are handful of talented top highlife stars in Delta State such as - Chief Ogbogu Okonji, late Iron lady, etc but late Prince Smart Williams was endowed with exceptional musical talents.
Prince Smart Williams is passionate about the development of Ndokwa kingdom of which he always advocates, he dedicated a song for this course titled "Ani Ndokwa Ba Mamma" 2000. Smart rose to prominence following the release of this studio project.
Career
Smart attended Emeni Primary and Obiaruku Grammar School, all in Obiaruku. He's also a product of Sapele Technical College, Sapele, where he formed a dance troupe called Atilogu Dance Troupe. He's a music enthusiast which he later joined Bright Chimezie and later still, Oliver de Coque whose band style had indept influence on the development of his musical style. Smart's natural wisdom made him quick to pick essential musical styles of his mentors, put them together, added his own creativity to form a rich variant which distinguished him from the rest in the industry.
Smart Williams revolutionized Ukwuani music scene by blending dance into his performances. Unlike his predecessors, who focused solely on lyrics, Smart recognized the importance of dance in enhancing the musical experience. Also his music addressed pressing societal issues, both traditional and modern, and conveyed a sense of pride and identity in Ukwuani ancestry.
One of Smart's most notable songs, "Ndokwa ba mma," which means a call to action, imploring Ukwuani people to come together and develop their homeland. He said: "àyidokume ōmanima ìyunamu" which connotes "if we repair this community it will be good for u and me". The song stressed the importance of combine effort in achieving progress and prosperity. Smart's music serves as a reminder of the need for unity, patriotism, and pride in one's cultural heritage.
The album also features other tracks, including "Ogoli," a love song that explores the mysteries of marriage, and "Ilolo atu enu," a consolation for those facing challenges. The song "Onye ka Chukwu?" acknowledges the supremacy of God Almighty and encourages listeners to submit to His will.
