The Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation (NPWF) has announced plans to expand its operations with the establishment of new state chapters in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, and Abia States, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots wrestling development and national capacity building.
This development was disclosed by Fidelis Kene, the Anambra State Media and Publicity Officer of NPWF and the Federation’s Southeast Coordinator. According to him, the proposed expansion has already been formally communicated to the NPWF National President, Chief John O. Uche, as well as the Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter, Mr. Chinedu Akata.
Speaking on the initiative, Fidelis Kene stated that the establishment of additional state chapters would significantly boost and expand the Federation’s ability to contribute meaningfully to national development, youth empowerment, and human capacity building through professional wrestling and sports administration.
In a separate media interaction with journalists, Fidelis further revealed that he has already nominated credible and experienced individuals to serve as chairmen of some of the proposed state chapters, pending official approval by the national leadership of the Federation.
According to him, Mr. James Emeh, Director of Igbere TV and also the National President of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), has been nominated to head the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of NPWF.
For Rivers State, Fidelis nominated Mr. Chidiebere Stephen Okoye, Director of Dezmayors News, who also serves as the OMPAN Rivers State Chapter Chairman, to pilot the affairs of the NPWF Rivers State Chapter.
Similarly, Hon. Nwachukwu Mike Chinasa, a politician based in Abia State and the OMPAN Anambra State Chapter Chairman, has been nominated to head the proposed NPWF Abia State Chapter.
Fidelis Kene added that the nomination for the Delta State Chapter Chairman would be announced in due course.
Reacting to these developments, the National President of the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation, Chief John O. Uche, commended Fidelis Kene Chiekezie for his commitment and strategic contributions to the growth of the Federation. Chief Uche noted that Fidelis who is also related to Africa’s wrestling legend, Power Mike has continued to demonstrate proven capacity, dedication, and leadership in advancing the objectives of NPWF.
The planned expansion is expected to further strengthen NPWF’s presence across the country and deepen its impact on sports development and professional wrestling in Nigeria.
