  • How I started this great project and it success - Youth Corp Member, Eme Udochukwu Prince
  • UltimatetimesTv gathers facts about an inter-secondary school Exhibition/ competition on Culture and Tourism among secondary school pupils in Awka by Emeh Udochukwu Prince, a youth corp member in Anambra State, Nigeria.

It was a great moment filled with well deserving experiences among the secondary school students of Anambra state, precisely in Akwa, as a National Youth Corp Member,  Eme Udochukwu Prince took a historic step to organise an inter-secondary school Exhibition/ competition on Culture and Tourism among secondary school pupils in Awka.

The two-day successful event which held between 27th and 28th September, 2018 was well graced by different secondary school students in Akwa, their teachers, staff of NYSC, Youth Corps Members and friends and well wishers. The first day centered on sensitization of the students on the need to prevent drug abuse and other illegal, criminal and immoral activities. While the second day was the exhibition/competition on various Artworks and culture, including beads making, cultural dance and drama, technical drawing, painting etc.

Speaking after the event, the organiser, Prince Udochukwu said that he decided to take up the challenge as a personal CDs to uplift and promote the dying tradition and culture of the people. And also as his little way of saying 'thank you' to the host community. He further emphasized the need for our children to stay away from abusing of drugs and remain committed to their rich cultural heritage.

Interestingly, before the cultural exhibition/competition, Corper Prince Eme Udochukwu had  also embarked on, and completed a "Door Notification Post" project  in his PPA (Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism). The door notification post which was constructed in all the doors in the department of ministry  of Diaspora Affairs and Tourism is aimed at giving easy assess to various offices in the ministry.

When asked his motivation behind the project, the corp member explained that visitors find it difficult to locate/differentiate the various offices in the ministry which he said, most times is frustrating locating the exact office you want to enter. He admitted experiencing such frustration when he newly arrived. Hence, he decided to solve the problem once and for all. According to him, he's someone that love identifying problems and finding solutions to them wherever he find himself. "Its in my nature", he added.

When asked how he was able to fund these huge projects at the same time even as a Corper, he said indeed the task was quit challenging, starting from getting approval from the NYSC, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Education and others, to sourcing for fund from stakeholders. However, he attributed the success of the event to various individuals and cooperate bodies who reached out to him for material and financial auspice.

In his remarks, he specially thanked the Permanent Secretary, office of the SSG Anambra, Dr. Emman Ude AKPEH, Hon. Commissioner and Perm. Sec. of MDCT, Anambra State Head of Service, and Anambra Broadcasting Service, MD and many others.

The height of the event was the commissioning of the Door Notification Post, and presentation of awards and materials to students who won various competitions. A total number of 12 students received award and special exercise books. Not underestimating the efforts of other students who didn't participate in the competition or win any award, he ensured that every student that attended the program went home with something to show for it.

The teachers were not left out as they all smiled home with gifts as well.

Indeed, this event was one of its kind among the Nigerian Youth Corps Members. It is only few who could achieve such stride.

From all of us at ultimatetimes Tv and  IgbereTV, we say a big congratulations to Corper Eme Udochukwu Prince for such a quality and great achievements.

It takes courage and perseverance to start such project and conclude it with success.
