Throwback Times correspondents in Anambra gathered how unknown gunmen struck at a Police Station in Neni community. 

The gunmen earlier attacked Police check points along Ekwulobia Nanka road, our correspondent gathered that no fewer than four persons were killed in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra State.

This followed a gun battle between security operatives and some gunmen.


An eyewitness, said one of her cousins was killed during the shootings

The source further said the gun battle between security operatives and the gunmen lasted for over one hour from around 6.30 to 7 pm on Sunday.


She said: “It was like a war zone. In the process, about seven persons were killed, including about three Policemen.”

Confirming the ugly incident, Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu said a number of the hoodlums met their waterloo during the exchange.

Ikenga revealed that the command operatives repelled the attack on Aguata and Neni Police Divisional Headquarters, neutralized four of the armed hoodlums and recovered ammunition of different calibers, others.

Some of the items recovered includes: 17pcs of 7.62mm live ammunition for Ak 47rifle, 107 pics of expended 7.62mm ammunition for Ak47 rifle, 7 pics of expended cartridges for pump action, 10 pics of expended 7.62mm long for Lar rifle, one big hammer, 3 phones and a wallet containing ID’s and some ATM cards.

Recalled that Unknown Gunmen, an unknown armed groups have been attacking Nigerian Security Outfits in the Southeast part of Nigeria. The group earlier stated reasons for the attacks that they are on revenge mission against all the security personnels over all the atrocities they've committed in the region; said the gun men.
