The Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Anambra State Chapter, has expressed strong disapproval over the recent hike in fuel pump price, describing it as "insensitive" and "burdensome" to Nigerians.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Nwachukwu C. Mike, OMPAN Anambra State Chapter tasked President Bola Tinubu to take immediate and appropriate action to lessen the burden of Nigerians, who are already grappling with economic hardship.
"The latest increase in fuel price is a bitter pill for Nigerians to swallow, especially at a time when the country is struggling to recover from economic downturn," the statement reads. "We urge President Tinubu to take swift action to address this issue, as it affects not only the masses but also the economy at large."
OMPAN Anambra State Chapter noted that the fuel price hike would have a ripple effect on the prices of goods and services, further exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians.
"We call on the President to engage stakeholders and explore alternative solutions to reduce the burden of fuel price on Nigerians," the statement added.
The association also emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the management of the country's resources, stressing that Nigerians deserve better.
As online media practitioners association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Anambra State Chapter pledged to continue holding those in power accountable and advocating for the welfare of Nigerians.
"We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that the voices of Nigerians are heard and their interests protected," the statement concluded.
