As an egwu ekpili master and current flagbearer in the Egwu Ekpili genre, which resonates with Gen Z, Chief Udegbi clarified the intent behind his song 'Ndi Asili Oginineme'. He explained that the song aims to clear the air regarding trending social media posts accusing his music of promoting ritualism among young Igbo youths through his Ogwu Ego promotional content.
Udegbi emphasized that he's not promoting ritualism or fetish indulgence but rather using sarcasm to highlight the wealth of his patrons, similar to how legendary colleagues like Oliver De Coque and Osadebe praised members of social clubs like the People's Club of Nigeria and Anaedo Social Club of Nigeria.
The blind singer urged the government to take responsibility for securing lives and properties, attributing some of the societal issues to governmental lapses.
