According to popular Nigerian activist, Sir Nwoba Chika Nwoba: According What I gleaned from the varying views of people is an attempt to make the case look like Engr Umahi mysteriously made away with the life of that Kaduna girl. The narrative has fully taken a political dimension ostensibly to make the man look culpable in the case whether or not veracity established him so. I was the first person to reveal the incident on Facebook cryptically before Umahi's political foes in the current Ebonyi State Government involved Sahara Reporters. I'm not beloved of Umahi which many know, but I won't be part of his outright incrimination gang up in this case. I got the information and foretold the current reality and the forces investing in its escalation.
The two female health officials one of whom now is late, have been working in the village home of the Minister for close to three years now. The narrative that they were imported from Kaduna to serve Umahi's sexual need is false. Umahi wasn't in Ebonyi two days to the incident. No man of Umahi's political class would import a bedmate down to his village compound where his wife and children also reside in. Umahi isn't that daft. What happened was that immediately it was noticed that this girl in question was dead in her room, police at Uburu was alerted. Who's the Uburu Police DPO? The DPO is from Izzi in Ebonyi as the governor of Ebonyi. He immediately took a picture of the deceased girl and forwarded to Ebonyi Government's table from where it was instrumentalized and given a different design altogether. A House of Representatives aspirant who has ticket issue with Umahi bought it up and from there got Sahara Reporters involved. I first got the information but refused to publish it against Umahi knowing that he wasn't even around when it happened and after it happened. Ebonyi State Government found the incident as a veritable avenue to get at Umahi over his suspected influence in the defeat of a House of Representatives ticket seeker who was the choice candidate of the governor, including the suspicion that Umahi isn't fully supporting the reelection bid of Gov. Nwifuru. Mind you that the social media report of the incident was swayed against the Minister and made to gain traction in Ebonyi by the pro-Ebonyi Government social media users before the outside interest bloc took it to the next level.
What has got the incident spreading like wild fire was the constant political badinage cast at Peter Obi by Engr David Umahi. This incident happened at a wrong time, frankly speaking. Whereas the father of the late girl insists he's not interested in autopsy and other unnecessary actions to be taken on the deceased daughter, the Ebonyi State Government-controlled State Police Command insists on lingering the case to sustain the dragging of the Minister. Umahi has written to the police that he wants autopsy, a conspicuous move to assert his innocence. There was no sign of strangulation or other physical attack realities on the girl judging by the physical condition of her corpse. In a layman's sight, the girl died a natural cause, but then, I'm in support of autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of her abrupt mortality. But since her family wants her corpse released to them for immediate interment, it's only pertinent to ask why the Ebonyi State Government is hellbent on lingering the narrative in the public opinion community when a biological brother of Gov. Nwifuru ki-lled another biological brother two months ago and the same police command buried the matter like nothing significant happened. Recently, a person mysteriously died in Remeritona Hotel, Abakaliki owned by the governor, and it was immediately concealed from public knowledge. In fact, I'll narrate how it happened tomorrow. I can sense political vendetta against the Minister here, manured by the Ebonyi State Government. It's nothing less than it.
If I had accepted to play the Sahara Reporter's card, I would have been the one to blow the salvo when the day was still dawn on the matter. Yes, I may not like how often Minister Umahi calls Peter Obi out, but it's necessary to call a thing what it truly resembles. And I suspect it's this regular calling out of Peter Obi that has inflamed the case. I'll not be party to gleefully saying that Umahi happened to the girl as many say. Ebonyi State Government should stop investing energy in where it's irrelevant to do so. The family of the deceased doesn't want the politicization of the death of their daughter, and it should be respected. Release her corpse to them. And may the soul of the young girl rest in peace! Every steel must meet the blacksmithing furnace, if not now, certainly in the future!
