According to Reports sighted by Throwback Times Nigeria in News Century Tv, suspected arms dealer has reportedly disappeared with ₦95 million reportedly paid by a notorious bandit leader for the purchase of firearms, triggering fresh concerns over criminal activities in Katsina State.
The incident reportedly occurred in Matazu Local Government Area, where the suspect is said to have collected the money under the pretext of supplying sophisticated weapons to the terrorists before going into hiding without delivering the consignment.
The allegation was made by the lawmaker representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu, popularly known as "General." Speaking during an interview with NTA Hausa, the legislator claimed the suspect has remained at large since receiving the funds.
Hon. Aliyu also linked the development to the worsening insecurity in the area, alleging that a feared bandit commander, Kachalla Maha, recently abandoned existing peace arrangements. According to him, the bandit leader has since intensified pressure on surrounding communities by imposing heavy livestock levies, further heightening fear among residents.
The reported happenstance borders on the growing volatility surrounding illegal arms smuggling and the deepening security challenges confronting parts of Katsina State and Nigeria at large, where criminal networks continue to operate despite ongoing security efforts.
