Cameroonian professional wrestling champion Alain Tazo, alias L’Animal, is taking his international wrestling career to the United States after decades of competition and championship success in Africa.
Tazo Nguechoung Alain Pierre, professionally known as L’Animal, is one of Cameroon’s notable professional wrestling talents. He has competed professionally since 1998 and has built a career as a heavyweight wrestler, representing Cameroon on the international wrestling scene. Now based in Maryland, USA, Tazo is positioning himself for a new chapter in his career as he seeks further opportunities in the American professional wrestling world.
L’Animal’s International Pro Wrestling Journey
Tazo’s international profile grew significantly in July 2023, when he defeated American wrestler Jim McDowell, “The Golden Boy,” at the Palais des Sports in Yaoundé. Tazo won the contest by count-out and was crowned PWA-AIWF Professional Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
The championship event was organized by the Cameroon Professional Wrestling Federation (FECACATCH) in collaboration with Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA). The contest brought an international championship match to Cameroon and highlighted the potential of African wrestling promotions to stage bouts involving wrestlers from different continents.
His championship victory represented an important milestone in Tazo’s career and further established him as a heavyweight representative of Cameroonian professional wrestling.
AIWF World Championship Appearance in the United States
Throwback Times Nigeria has learned that L’Animal subsequently competed at the AIWF World Championship in North Carolina, United States, on March 2, 2024, where he recorded a victory.
The appearance marked another significant step in his international career, giving the Cameroonian wrestler an opportunity to compete on American soil and further demonstrate his abilities outside Africa.
Now residing in Maryland, Tazo is geographically positioned to pursue additional opportunities within the United States wrestling industry, including appearances, championship contests and potential collaborations with American professional wrestling promotion organizations.
With L’Animal now based in the United States, his next aim is to continue developing his career and compete against established wrestlers in the American market.
His experience dating back to 1998 provides him with decades of professional wrestling knowledge, while his heavyweight championship background gives him an established competitive résumé as he enters a new phase of his career.
