Throwback Times Nigeria regret to announce passing unto glory of one of Nigeria's legendary pioneer of highlife music - Godwin Kabaka Opara popular by his professional stage name as "Kabaka".

Godwin Kabaka Opara was an iconic figure in highlife sounds in Nigeria and worldwide. One can not discuss Oriental Brothers International Band without having the name "Kabaka" being mentioned repeatedly.
During the historic formation of the great music group, Oriental Brothers which literally connotes "Brothers from the East". Ferdinand Chukwuemeka Opara being the one who initiated and spearheaded the founding of the music group after the Nigerian-Biafra Civil war in early 1970s invited Kabaka (rythm guitar) to join the group after Tony Awoma left during their active days in Afrodisia Decca.
